EXPECTATIONS: how to be a PRO

Here are 3 simple rules that will help you succeed this year.
 

Lack of attendance, tardiness and other matters will be sanctioned by a lowered grade and by the rules and consequences listed in the 99-00 Pilot. Beware of the  new Pilot rules!

We will need some time to know each other a little better. Be patient!
If you don't understand something,ask questions!
I will be available in 2nd, 4th, 7th periods and after class.
Meetings on appointment only.
I really want to help those who want to be helped. Talk to me to get help.
 
 
 
 

GRADES
Your grades will be based ontests, homework, participation and attitude towards the class.
Homework and class participationwill include individual and group projects.
Group projects are designed to make students work together.
Every member in the group will receive the same "team grade".
Students that do not participate in the group activities may be graded individually.
 
 

  • Quarter Grades

    • Tests & Quizzes 40 %
    Homework 25 %
    Class Participation, behavior and punctuality 25 %
    Presentations and projects 15 %
    Please note that poor homework and participation grades could lead to a
    grade of D or F.
    Turning in your assignment on time will earn you maximum homework credit.
    There will be no make up for unexcused absences (homework, quizzes and tests).
    For any test or assignment so missed a grade of “F” will be entered.

     • Semester Grades
    Semester grades are computed from the quarter grades and the final exam grade.
    First (or third) quarter grade            40 %
    Second (or fourth) quarter grade       40 %
    Final Exam grade                            20 %
     

     • Learning Goals
    In addition to learning to speak and write in French , you will develop an understanding and knowledge of cultures different from your own. Studying French will also help you in the usage, appreciation  and development of your native language.
     

     • Other
    Excessive visits to the washroom will not be tolerated unless a doctor’s note is provided.
    Gum chewing, eating or drinking will not be tolarated in the classroom.
    Hats, earphones and coats stay in your locker, where they belong.
    Dress accordingly to the room temperature and the weather.
    This class will be fun as long as you don’t leave your positive attitude in your locker.
    Try to remain open-minded.
    Helping others will greatly enhance your understanding of the material studied.
     

    You can be a PRO! Helping otherswill pay you back!

    Chaque année mes élèves de terminale (seniors) suivent un programme qu'ils ellaboreront  en partie eux-même.
    La participation orale en Francais est essentielle(50% de la note de semestre) et sera constamment exigée par le professeur.

    Quelques mots ...

    Devant la forteresse medievale de Carcassonne, ete 2000


    Je suis professeur de Français à  Evanston Township , à Evanston ,près de Chicago en Illinois.
                        Je suis né à Saint Barthélémy   une petite ile francaise des Caraibes et je parle Creole et un peu d'Espagnol.
    J'y ai grandi jusqu'à l'âge de 14 ans avant de déménager en France pour y continuer mes études.
     

    Quand je ne torture pas mes élèves,  je fais de l'escalade avec mes amis. J'aime aussi m'instruire  d' Astronomie (pas d'astrologie!),
    visioner  des films et creer des reseaux d'ordinateurs.









    L'échange culturel avec la France
     

    En été 1998, j'ai accompagné 20 élèvesd'ETHS à Strasbourg en France .Les élèves ont demeuré chez des familles françaises avec leur correspondants pendant 2 semaines. Nous avons ensuite séjournéà Paris pendant 5 jours inoubliables!
